Session Details
How far in advance should we book our session?
We recommend booking at least 4-8 weeks in advance, especially during peak seasons (spring break, summer, and holidays). If you’re visiting St. Augustine for a vacation or family reunion, it’s a good idea to plan early so we can secure your preferred date and time.
What’s the best time of day for photos?
We typically schedule sessions an hour before sunset for the best natural light—soft, golden, and flattering. Morning sessions are also an option if your family prefers an earlier time, though the light and beach conditions are different.
How long does a photo session last?
Our sessions usually last 45-60 minutes. That’s the sweet spot for capturing a variety of images while keeping everyone happy and engaged—especially little ones!
Where do the sessions take place?
- St. Augustine Beach sessions are typically held near the pier or at one of our favorite quiet spots for fewer crowds and beautiful scenery.
- Historic Downtown St. Augustine sessions often include the cobblestone streets, historic buildings, and charming courtyards.
We’re happy to suggest locations based on the look you’re going for!
What to Wear for Your Family Session
We’re often asked, “What should we wear for our family photos?” Here are our best tips to help you coordinate outfits for a cohesive, polished look—whether it’s just a few of you or a big family group.
General Clothing Tips
- Keep it coordinated, not matching. Choose a color palette of 3-4 complementary colors and let everyone mix and match within that scheme. Neutrals, soft tones, and muted colors tend to photograph beautifully.
- Avoid busy patterns and logos. Simple, classic looks stand the test of time.
- Consider the location. Lighter, airy outfits look great on the beach. Earth tones and richer hues pop beautifully in the historic downtown setting.
For Large Family Groups
- Keep it coordinated, not matching. Choose a color palette of 3-4 complementary colors and let everyone mix and match within that scheme. Neutrals, soft tones, and muted colors tend to photograph beautifully.
- Avoid busy patterns and logos. Simple, classic looks stand the test of time.
- Consider the location. Lighter, airy outfits look great on the beach. Earth tones and richer hues pop beautifully in the historic downtown setting.

For Smaller Family Groups
- Go modern with monochromatic tones, like all neutrals or all pastels, but vary the fabrics and accessories.
- Go traditional with coordinated dresses for women and button-downs with slacks for men. For a more formal look, maxi dresses or linen shirts and khakis are timeless choices.
- Think layers—adding a scarf, cardigan, or statement necklace can create depth without overdoing it.

Session Day Essentials
What should we bring to the session?
- Water (especially for beach sessions)
- Wipes or tissues for little faces and hands
- A change of clothes for young kids (just in case!)
- Comfortable shoes for walking (we’ll swap them out for barefoot shots or dress shoes as needed)
Can we bring props or pets?
Absolutely! Props like a favorite blanket or meaningful item can add personality to your photos. Well-behaved pets are welcome in outdoor sessions—we just ask that you let us know ahead of time so we can plan accordingly.
What if the weather isn’t great?
Florida weather can be unpredictable! If rain or poor conditions are in the forecast, we’ll work with you to reschedule your session. We keep a close eye on weather updates and do our best to be flexible.
